Which settings should I try first?
- Smart wearable and Smart bedside are both very loud alarms. Both Smart alarms come with 8 tones and the alarm automatically cycles through tones, so you don’t have to. You can enable both sound and vibration setting first.
Can I use both the sound and vibration together?
- Yes. In fact, it’s best to start the treatment with both sound and vibration. Gradually, as your child starts having dry nights, you can turn off the vibration.
What Smart setting should my child use at a sleepover?
- Smart gives you the option to turn off the sound and use vibration only. We call this the ‘discreet option’, because it enables the child to use the bed-wetting alarm without others knowing when it goes off. The discreet option should be used when the child is away at sleepovers and camp.
When Should I use Smart’s Discreet Mode?
- Smart’s vibration only option (discreet mode) should be used only when quiet is absolutely necessary, such as when your child is at a sleepover.
Is the loudest volume setting safe for my child’s hearing?
- Yes, Smart’s loudest setting is still within the safe range.
How can I avoid ‘Auditory Accommodation’?
- Having a variety of different tones available helps to prevent ‘Auditory accommodation’ i.e. the child “getting used to” the sound of a single or one tone bed-wetting alarm and beginning to ignore/sleep through it. Smart bedwetting alarms cycle through 8 different tones so you don’t get accustomed to one tone.
